7-Day Challenge

Each day, for 7 days, I offer you to take on a specific challenge that I introduce to you and you commit to complete that challenge on that day. It's a fun way for finishing the year strong no matter where you are and preparing for a stronger and more successful year ahead.

Day 2: Can You Finish It?

Were you able to complete yesterday’s challenge?

If yes, congratulations! Give yourself a high five and a score of 10.

If you did not complete yesterday’s challenge, you’d better to complete today’s challenge as it is about finishing the unfinished! Yes, of course I thought about the sequence of the 7-day challenge! 😊

I learned the concept of “finishing the unfinished” from one of my mentors, Marcia Wieder. According to Marcia, finishing the unfinished has something to do with our integrity. When we leave tasks unfinished, we have a gap in our integrity. Integrity is what makes us complete and trustworthy. Without integrity we are incomplete. We are not fully honest with ourselves. And that could be the reason behind an unfulfilled life.

A recent unfinished task for me was purchasing a bed set for my daughter. I had promised her to buy a bed set for her on her birthday. She wanted a bed set from IKEA. Although I took her to IKEA to see and choose, I did not the next step to finish the unfinished. I did not purchase it at the store. I told her that I’d purchase online so it can be delivered to our house. Well, I delayed finishing the unfinished for about 40 days. She did not complain but I felt bad. I finally said enough is enough. I have to complete this unfinished task. So I went online and ordered the full bed set. She got so excited and thanked me for that. I said, “I should have done it on your birthday.” But I am happy that I finally finished the task. It made her happy. It also made me happy.

When we have a lot of unfinished tasks, we feel miserable. The unfinished or incomplete tasks do not need to be big tasks. Sometimes these tasks could be as simple as following:

  • Cleaning your garage because it’s been messy for the last 6 months and you always say, “I have to make it organized” but you don’t do what you say.

  • Washing your car because every day you see clean cars and tell yourself, “I should take my car to car wash this weekend!” but you don’t because you think you are too busy with other stuff.

  • Taking your kids to playground and playing with them because you promised that you’d do next time and the next time you told them another time just because you are busy

  • Giving a red rose to your spouse or partner to appreciate her/him and tell that you love her/him but you think that she/he already knows that you love her/him anyway

  • Saying Thank You! To someone who deserves it, but you postpone it because you are too busy or you think it is not that important

  • Saying sorry to your mom or dad that you might have hurt with your words and actions, but you are hesitant to do so for various reasons

  • Opening an investment account that you always wanted to have some day so you can set aside some money regularly and invest for your future, but you never did.

  • Completing the diet program that you started 2 weeks ago but felt that it is not helpful after the first week

  • Reading a great book that you purchased 6 months ago but never finished reading it

Or the unfinished task could be something like:

  • Starting the business you always wanted to establish some day

  • Writing the book you always wanted to write

  • Going on the vacation you always wanted to go

  • Applying for the job you dreamed of having

  • Taking the training and acquiring the new skill you always wanted to have

So today, challenge yourself to complete an unfinished task. List some of the unfinished tasks you have and pick at least one to finish today.

Once completed, write about your experience or let me know your comments and questions in the comment box below.

Would you take this challenge? If nothing comes to your mind, finish the yesterday’s challenge if you have not done that already.

Until tomorrow that I share with you the challenge for day 3 of the 7-day challenge, live the life of your dreams and make a difference consistently.
